OK, I have a certain component that will show up in all of my document windows. Currently, whenever a new window is made i recreate it by hand (since it can't be done through interface builder, it's an NSMatrix full of cells). Is this the best course of action, or would it be better to possibly create one prototype, then continually copy it each time it's needed?

Shrug... I'm not sure that you gain much by copying... it's not like you have to actually do anything yourself each time.. :-)
