"it doesn't work for them" is unfortunately too broad to be helpful. There
are lots of reasons why an app might not run properly on an older OS
release. Many of them have nothing to do with what compiler version or
libraries you link against. If you could be more specific about what sorts
of problems your users are running into, then perhaps more guidance can be
given.
