XML-RPC help

I am looking into writing an app using an XML-based web API that would interpret and display the data in an easily readable fashion. As a relative cocoa newbie, where should I begin? Is there a straightforward way to obtain and parse the data? I was unable to find any relevant information in Apple's docs. Any help at all would be appreciated.
