What you want to do is a convolution, on my web site <http://homepage.mac.com/nathan_day/> I have code for doing convolutions between images, it also includes code a method for allocating a NSImageRep with an array of floats which you can use to create your impulse response image which represent what you want to happen to a single white pixel.
