NSTextField/View contextual menu also selects

  • Subject: NSTextField/View contextual menu also selects

It seems that control clicking in an NSTextField/View does two things. It pops
down the contextual menu; but first it selects some text, as if you'd
double-clicked. This is driving me nuts because it's wrong behavior. For
example, if the user wants to Paste, s/he should be able to paste at the
insertion point - but the contextual menu forces the pasting to replace an
entire word instead.

Carbon apps get this right. Cocoa apps get it wrong. (For example, TextEdit
behaves as I'm describing.)

Suggestions? m.
