Hi:

I am starting a new project to read data from a USB attached weather station (Vantage PRO) and place the data into a MySQL database.

- - MySQL is up and running, table created to match data from station
- - I have Mac OSX 10.3.2, Xcode 1.1, PHP 4.3.2, Perl 5.8.1
- - I know C, FORTRAN, Forth, HTML, and a few assembler languages well
- - I know Java, Perl, PHP, C++, and Objective C a bit

This program will have no gui, just a rc file or command line input (it will be run by cron). I plan to write a web application using PHP to display the data in the database in various ways.

Another small application will format the data from the database to send off to the weather underground.

I am looking for a language on the Macintosh that has the libraries to perform serial i/o and a nice way of writing records to a MySQL server. Any recommendations?
