You're right. I'm sorry. Perhaps I should have said this instead: you
do not have to post your source code along side your compiled binaries
(if you are distributing shareware for example), but if your code is
requested, you then must provide it.
BTW: this may be quibbling, but if the person requesting your code does
not have a written offer from you providing the code, you don't need to
hand it out willy-nilly. So while the GPL does require that you be
prepared to give out your code, it does mean that you will ever
actually have to do so.
