James J. Merkel meinte doch tatsdchlich:
What is a low cost way of making an application icon? Photoshop is out
of the question. Also my understanding is TIFFany3 would require using
the professional version to obtain an image with a transparent
background. This would also be expensive. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
no offense here, but why don't you get in touch with some professional
(or semi-professional for that matter) icon-designer?
there are so many talented people hanging around the various forums
(macnn, macosx.com, resexcellence, to name but a few), and most of them
are creating icons for fun or just a couple of dollars.
that way you don't have to bother - not about photoshop, not about
transperency, just about what your icon should look like or rather,
which idea it should get across...
paying 20 bucks for an icon sure beats sitting a weekend in front of
your screen trying to figure out how to make a 1-bit mask out of that
dropshadow, don't you think?
