I have found, both in my own personal use and in teaching laptop-brand
computing to others, that the best way to do this is to get whatever
version of Missile Command that you can find. You know the game; you
have ten (or so) cities at the bottom of the screen, and little lines
come from the top of the screen to blow them up. You use your mouse to
shoot the lines out of the sky, and save your cities.
It sounds stupid, but this game is the best thing I have ever found to
get people using a mouse/trackpad/whatever in the least time; the rules
are simple, there are visible results for every click, and you quickly
learn how to handle whatever pointing device you have.
Just a little pointer. (I'm sorry, I had to.)
