Yes, the FSFindFolder() was what i was looking for, however I was looking through the FileManager reference where the "old" FindFolder function was described (I think) but I turns out FSFindFolder was located in the FolderManager (of which I was not aware).

Still I find it a bit strange that there is not a higher level API for doing this kind of things, at least it should be a part of CF so as to remove the need for Carbon, but this is only my thoughts.
