Hiding File Type Extensions

  • Subject: Hiding File Type Extensions

I have observed some curious behavior associated with the Hide Extension checkbox.

In my application, when the Hide Extension check box is NOT checked (the extension should be visible) when the Save dialog initially appears the extension is NOT visible (I would think it should be.) If I toggle the Hide Extension checkbox (checked, hide extension, back to unchecked show extension) the extension will be visible appended to the filename.

Now, I had thought that this is a bug in my code. However I have noticed the exact same behavior in several of Apple's applications (Preview for example.)

Perhaps this is not a problem with my code but just an issue with Cocoa.

Any ideas?
