I'm curious if Apple is using Metal as an interem as they think of how
Aqua will develop in the next few years. I've seen many ways in which
apps create a neutral color from which someone works. The problems of
how one displays focus, what one's working on, or any of the issues of
UI design are not easy and they need to be improved. Gray is used in
many apps, combustion and final cut pro come to mind. Maybe they're
sticking with this now and will slowly change into who knows what.

I've changed the main browser window appearance so it doesn't use the
"textured" option. It makes Safari a hell of a lot easier on the eyes.
Sometimes I wonder WTF Apple is thinking.
Now if only I could hack quartz-wm and Java Swing so it DID use
"textured" windows so I could easily discern them from Aqua-behaving
apps.
