Use the build settings "Expert View" and add your desired bundle extension string to the key "WRAPPER_EXTENSION" to the bundle target. I'm not certain that you can remove it, but you can at the very least change it to something more descriptive, and project specific. Perhaps you can also set it to the empty string, but I have never tried that.
