Is this a known bug?
I filed a bug on what is probably the same problem. It wasn't always
reproducible, but in different circumstances drag & dropping to the
open panel would occasionally
(1) reject the drag
(2) produce a warning dialog informing me of an 'invalid path'
(3) return a truncated file path
Mail would exhibit this behavior in addition to a simple stand-alone
test app.
What is the work around?
I don't know if there is one. I noticed that the problem would be more
pronounced if you would navigate around using the Open Panel before
making the drag. Specifically, if you navigated to a directory other
than the directory containing the file you want to drop in, it would
happen more frequently. I just stopped dropping into the Open panel.
Perhaps you should file another bug and give them additional info. I
filed mine in October and it is still in Open/Verify state.
