The obvious way in IB is to select-all, cut, then junk the tab-view, then paste them all in to the window. Problem is, they're all now disconnected, and to reconnect all of them (most of them bi-directionally too!) will take hours.
Is there any way to move them without breaking the connections?

Yes. Select the controls and click-and-hold. After a second or two they will detach themselves from the tab view, as evidenced by a drop shadow that will appear. Then you can drag them into any other view you want.
