You might also take a look at the AltiVec calls. As long as you are
using a G4 (or better, heh) then you can get accelerated vector code
that deals with DSP processing.
AltiVec coding isn't as easy as Cocoa but if you have experience coding
for DSP then you shouldn't have too many problems.
