DockIcon with text

First, I know I cross posted, but like I said before, not everyone is subscribed to every mailing list ;-)

I need to know how to add text to my dock icon.. say i have a plain black icon, then when my app updates the dock icon, i need it to add a string ontop of the icon. I want it to show a percentage without having to create 101 images (0-100%).
If it worked liked Apple's mail does with the badges, that would be fine.

Can someone show me how to do this, or at least point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

-Rhon
