I don't believe that Photoshop implements tiff correctly and/or the
tiff standard has so much flexibility that Cocoa and Photoshop
implement tiff transparency incompatibly.
It isn't just Cocoa's implementation that is incompatible. CorelDraw
10 exports TIFFs with transparency that Photoshop ignores as well.
Try a different bitmap format like gif or png. Do saved tiffs from a
Cocoa app load OK in Photoshop ?
No, they don't :-(. I had this problem the other day with an image I
exported from Preview; TIFFs seem to lose transparency when loaded by
Photoshop. PNG worked fine, so I used that instead.
