Synchronize iCal with .ics files

Hi,

My cocoa application updates .ics files which are used by iCal. But, iCal don't see the modifications. So, how notify iCal to refresh its datas? Does iCal listen to a distributed notification? How to lock the files to protect threads that want to update at the same time those files?
