Well, I'll take a stab at this one, though I admit that I don't know for
sure about it.
Think of it this way... Is there any way to make your application reload
its preferences short of quitting it and running it again?
Since most applications probably only read in (most of) their preferences
when they start up, and most apps don't provide a way to reload their
preferences, I doubt that you can make the Dock reload its prefs. I know
that none of the applications I've created allow you to do this and I would
guess that the Dock doesn't allow you to do this either.
Of course I could be wrong.
