I happy to announce that the number of Cocoa books available has
incremented again this last week. Cocoa in a Nutshell, by myself and
Mike Beam has started shipping in bulk from Amazon and has been spotted
in the wild in various places.
This is a Nutshell book in the spirit of Java in a Nutshell and the
other Nutshell books from O'Reilly. As such, it's divided into two
parts. The first provides an overview of Cocoa's frameworks. Common
programming tasks are described and many chapters focus on the larger
design patterns in the frameworks. The second half is a detailed quick
reference to the Foundation and AppKit classes including classes,
functions, types, constants, protocols, and methods.
Far from being a competitor, the book is complementary to the other
books out there--especially to Cocoa Programming by Anguish, Buck, and
Yacktman. Most Cocoa programmers should find it useful.
Mike and I are excited to see this book out there, and proud to see it
joining the ranks of the growing documentation set available for Cocoa.
We are looking forward to your feedback and hope that you enjoy the
book.
