Hiding views

Hi,

I'm having a very specific problem. I wanted to know is there any way to hide custom views dynamically. I'm
trying to implement something feature similar to iPhoto. When I navigate through the "import,organize" buttons, the bottom view chages. How to implenment similar featues. In Cocoa, how to enable/disable or "send to back/send to front " views. Can anybody help me in this
