I'm afraid I have to take back some of what I said earlier, about video
card performance not being significant. As I've detailed on the OpenGL
list, about a month ago a lot of 3d games stopped working on my iBook,
and what few did still work seemed to be doing software rendering. I
figured I'd broken something while playing around with things, and
wasn't too perturbed (I don't play that many games, and most of them
aren't 3D). As it turns out, I've proven they were in fact using
software rendering, but more importantly, I've fixed the problem. And
in fact, I've now realized that up until 2 hours ago, my iBook had
never utilized it's Radeon Mobility 7500. So now, after 7 months of
owning this iBook, I have for the first time seen Quartz Extreme and
associated acceleration in action.
The best way to describe it would be my move several years ago from a
8100/100/64 to a G4/400/832. i.e. mind boggling. In fact, I've come
to the same conclusion as I did back then - "Wow, everything in the
computer industry has improved so much in just a few short years.
Except for hard drives. Hard drives still suck."
I don't know that I had much point to this, other than to say hardware
accelerated graphics is a real neat idea. :)

P.S. If OpenGL Info reports only a Generic renderer, your system is
probably broken like mine was. I can offer instructions to fix this.
I don't supply sedatives though, to subdue the extreme exaltation of
seeing how well your system performs after being fixed.
