startup item

I have created my first StartupItems.
put it into /Library/StartupItems/myStartupItem

with a start script called myStartupItem and a correctly filled StartupParameters.plist file

when I invoke
$ SystemStrater start myStartupItem

it start successfully.
However when I reboot it doesn't start at all.
Why is it so ?
I'm puzzled, is there other undocumented steps to follow which I missed ?
