I don't know if it's a known bug, but the exact thing happened to me, and
I'm using Cocoa with Objective-C! >_<

Since then I've just avoided putting spaces in any of my project names.

Maybe Apple deliberately gives the tutorial project a "broken" name to force
new developers to intimately learn the ins and outs of ProjectBuilder in the
course of trying to track down just what the hell is causing the build to
fail - I know it caused me to learn a lot ... ;)
