AFAIK, it's a bug in Package Maker 10.2 or in the Install framework.

Great... :-(
Can I then simply copy Package Maker of an older Developer Tools CD or installation maybe? Or won't that work?

IMHO, it's not a good idea to use the Package Maker version shipped with 10.2:
* It does not produce Installer that can be used on 10.1
* It introduced bugs.
* The documentation is worse than on the 10.1 version

I'm not quite sure which version I'm using. I installed the Apple Developer Tools from CD and I think it was dated Dec 2002.

Namely, this undocumented feature is the 'VolumeCheck' file that you can find in some Apple's packages. There's one in the most recent Apple packages (to prevent installing a package on pre 10.2 system for instance).

Thanks, I will have a loot into that, but I'm not sure if I will be able to figure that one out.

On the second problem:

Did you add the extension to the name of the sub-package in the list of package names?

No, I didn't. Package Make itself added these when I added the single packages via drag'n drop. Removing them didn't seem to help.
