This functionality works in JBoss, where you can compile an .ear file
and the JBoss server will automatically unload the previous incarnation
and load the new version. Since JBoss just uses the standard Sun JDK,
its definitely possible to implement this kind of functionality in a
java IDE. Hopefully Apple did just that.

Do any of XCode's super special neato features apply to Java? I assume
code-completion will work, but I would be surprised if they've
implemented incremental compilation or the ability to change running
applications.
Can anyone say whether Java developers should be pleasantly surprised?
Best,
