Hello
I'm new to this list and perhaps I found the wrong place since I'm not
a programmer. I do localization for a living but didn't find a better
place for my question. If you do please let me know.
Currently I'm localizing a Mac OS X application into 8 languages. The
translations are there, I got them into the NIBs and now all I have to
do is checking the dialogs for text truncations. Sounds easy and it is.
But it is also very time consuming as I need to open every dialog in
every NIB file to see if there is a truncation at all.
Coming from Windows localization I'm a bit spoilt because the
localization tools on that platform usually offer functions such as
"detect truncations" which is a big time saver. Even the dev
environments do that IIRC. I see that IB is not a loc tool but what
else could I use? I heard about PowerGlot and maybe it would do the
job. Its downside is that it costs $$$ while IB is free.
So, can anybody tell me if IB has a yet undiscovered option -
undiscovered by me that is ;) - that highlights common localization
problems in a NIB file? Or if there's a different tool that's
preferrably free?
Thanks,
Thomas
