Peter,
I just modified the SimpleToolbar example, such that the document window has
a backgroundColor that is an NSImage. The results were great -- the toolbar
is transparent! Since image "tiles" when you set the window's
backgroundColor, you should be able to just add your Photoshop'd image as
the background and get the same pattern on your toolbar for free.
