NSTextField problem

I have a NSView that does most of the work. I now want it to show the score in a NSTextField, but the outlets don't seem to work. So I created another class called OmicronController.
The code works, but I can't call it from within OmicronView (the NSView). When a create an OmicronController myself in OmicronView I can call the code, but it has no effect.
