Thanks a lot for the pointer.
I can not find any site currently hosting "nxyplot" (www.peak.org was
hosting it but now it looks like an ISP).
However, Standford does have HippoDraw!

HippoDraw was apparently originally implemented in NeXTStep and so
popluar that it was made into a cross platform application. It looks
like we might bring it back as a Cocoa API!
