There is a button on the bottom of the playlist with a "+" on it.
Its tool tip says "Create a Playlist".
Now, if you press Option the tool tip immediate changes to "Create a
Smart Playlist".
Anyone know how this is done?
This will be the answer to my problems.

Pressing the Command key displays an "expanded" help tag, but this only
works in Carbon.
