The image view object has an image of a mountain. If you hoover with the moust pointer over the object it will tell you what class it represents.
The easiest way to create a matrix in IB is to simply add the view for the cell type you want to have in the matrix, and then ALT+Drag in one of the resize corners to create a matrix of cells of this type.
