I wonder If "the windowing system is prevented from touching the
display " means the windowing system doesn't allow any other
application to draw on the screen when an full screen openGL is played.
If so, if there is any specific method to draw on the screen at that
time.
I set my window to kCGMaximumWindowLevel(as Aidas told me) but still
can't be seen above Keynote. I think your guess should be right.

I'd guess that keynote is using fullscreen opengl, which means the
