Hello fellow Cocoa-Dev members, I apologize for this interruption, but
I have a silly question, in fact, I feel stupid asking this, but I must
ask as I am banging my head on my developer box.
INTRO: Has anyone heard of the Myers-Briggs type indicator or any other
test that tells you what kind of person you are and your learning
styles? I do not fall for them 100%, but I have to go along with the
fact that it says, as do others, that I am a visual learner. I learn by
watching. I have remodeled and added onto my house from electrical to
plumbing (all by code, no contractor, and the inspector was impressed),
I have learned the guitar, percussion, and piano (fluent in all), and
other things just by watching others and asking questions, then I go do
it.
DILEMMA: I cannot afford the time to go to Big Nerd Ranch no the Apple
classes that they offer, yet some say that if I have already read the
books, why do I need to go? Because I would be able to ask questions,
and when answered, other questions come up--very difficult to do it via
email or even this list (until I am comfortable with the frameworks and
other API workings).
QUESTION: Is there anyone here on the Cocoa-Dev list that is in the
northern California area, near Sacramento, Chico, Auburn, and vicinity
that is willing to tutor, help, and explain a few things an old dog
like me (old as in not programmed in 15 years). All I need to do is get
started; I have been trying for over a year now and just when I think I
get it, things do not work or I get stuck on what to do and where to
start....
Again, sorry for the interruption, but thank you for allowing me to
post this and interrupt your flow of work.
- peace - AC (aka gerry)
