Do an archive search for a message written by Bill Bumgarner on why he
chose Cocoa-Java for a particular project. He gave an outstanding
analysis of the issues involved. It also makes for a good analysis of
how to pick the right language/toolkit for a particular job in general.

When does it make sense to write Java with Cocoa application ?
I understand the use of Java + Swing for cross platform applications
although Swing still seems (to me) buggy and slow on every platform.
I understand the use of Objective-C and Cocoa for Mac OS X only
applications.
I even understand the use of AppleScript or Python with Cocoa for RAD
of ultra simple applications or "glue" applications. IMHO Java is not
well suited to these.
I can sort of justify putting a native GUI of whatever kind on a cross
platform Java back end.
But what is the utility of writing an application from scratch
entirely in Java Cocoa ? Was that ever the intent ?
