Have a look on the ADC website for sample code in the cocoa section.
There is an example of how to do this.

Hi.
I am new to Cocoa programming and I was wondering how one would go
about displaying numbers or text on screen without any visible
container (window or background). That is to say, how to display a
custom view on screen that would seem to "float" on its own and have a
fully transparent background.
Thanks for any help.
