All in all, my two years so far with Objective-C has taught me that I'm not as much of an object-oriented badass as I thought I was after working at JavaSoft. The influences of Smalltalk are great--and very cool. Does ObjC need improvements? Sure. What language doesn't?

Having been though the same shift from java to Obj-C I'm inclined to agree. Although the square brackets are still bugging me. But then, it's only been about 2 months so plenty of time. The ability to use carbon functions (and things like QuickTime access from NSMovieViews), from my code have outweighed most of it. Particularly as there was no way to fix the movieView bug (mentioned on here a few days ago) without moving the code to Obj-C.

(sorry I'm sure you've seen that one before but I couldn't resist it ;-)
