I've been trying to mount remote volumes using FSMountServerVolumeSync
and its Async cousin and I have found that I can only mount a remote
volume w/o user interaction when using clear text. The only exception
is when using the MS UAM on a Windows AFP share, this will mount
silently. Windows AFP servers will refuse a clear text connection
attempt from OSX. Trying to connect to AFP, Netatalk and SMB shares
will generate a prompt for username/password info when using
encryption. Is there a way to get this to work silently for all types?
I've gone through the archives and found a number of references to
mounting volumes, but none discussing how to handle encryption. I
expected the username/password info to be pulled from the Keychain,
(usernames and passwords are all in there), and used silently, but I
get either the SMB login dialog with the username filled in ( probably
retrieved with a call to NSUserName()) but no password, or I get the
AFP log in box with all the info filled in only requiring me to click
"Connect". Mind you, I'm not being prompted for Keychain access, all
the relevant accounts are set to "Always Allow Access". If this is a
Keychain issue, please point me to some documentation that will clear
things up for me. I've looked at Apple's documentation on the Keychain,
but can't find anything relevant. Is there a way to get encryption to
work silently?
Thanks!
