window position autosave not working...

Using the document-based app, but it's not saving the window positions. I've set the autosave name in IB. and have tried also doing it programmatically using NSWindow's setFrameAutosaveName:, but in neither case does it work.

If I print the frameAutosaveName to the log, it comes up as null.

I have not overridden document save or open functionality, so can't imagine what I might have done to lose this "free" behavior. Any thoughts are appreciated.
