I want to add functionality to the NSArrayController class, so I sub-classed it and imported it into Interface Builder, but Interface Builder will not let me instantiate the subclass. What is the deal?

Instantiate an NSArrayController by dragging it from the pallet to your nib document window then change its class to your subclass (Custom Class panel in the inspector).
