I am using the libpq C libraries for postgresql.

I have found various methods to connect to databases.
ODBC. C libraries. and I also saw and played with an
objective C framework that someone was developing for
postgresql.

All in all, I am very happy with the C libraries with
postgresql. I have no problems with notifications from
the server to my app and it is relatively painless.

Let me know if you want more information.

Ted
