Need some direction with a .palette can you help

I guess I should explain what I am trying to accomplish. I use applescript / applescript studio and have been throwing
around how create a Status Menu and Dockling palette.

Some of the functionality that is available is not readily available with Ib. i.e. such as docklings and NSStatusMenu.
What I want to do is add a palette to create these components. I own a few books (2) that discuss creating a palette
but provide no instruction or not much.

the Question is?
if I can some how just sub class NSmenu and override the NSMenu script value encoding would be my perferred
implementation so as I don't have to reinvent the wheel. Or if I am going to have to write my own menu palette code.
If I have to write my own is there a way to de-compile an exsisting palette so as to follow the development scheme
and scripting. Any tips would be helpful and thanks.
