Aqua-style custom views

I am working on a few custon controls. I would like them to have the
same basic look and feel as the other controls in my app. If I were
programming with Carbon it looks like I could use the Appearane
Manger, but I have been unable to find anything comparable in the
world of Cocoa. Given that Apple has been pushing Cocoa as the Way of
the Future, surely there must be a way to build custom Cocoa controls
in the Aqua style? Any advice?
