Unnecessary controls could fade out with a little cloud, and new ones warp in with a pop. Sound effects included. :)

Sounds like you are coding for MS Longhorn ... :-P

Now now, there's no need to be cruel and unusual.. ;)

Okay, I was obviously being sarcastic about the sound effects, and probably the popping in/out, but I still like the idea in general. It's one of those things you'd only notice after weeks of use, then go "damn, that's cool" - like the genie effect on minimizing windows. Of course, there'd have to be support for the shift key too, so you can see things morph at a nice speed. ;)
