Recently, I've noticed many people asking basic C questions on this
list. Questions about conditional expressions, pointers, return
values. This bothers me. Newbie Objective-C questions are one thing
(though I am getting heartily tired of seeing "when do I
retain/release" questions), and I don't have a problem with newbie
AppKit questions, but C?
To you newbie programmers: If you don't know C, you aren't ready.
There are many books at your local library. There are classes out
there too, even in high school. It is easy to teach yourself
everything you need to know about C, especially with the help of the
Internet. There are better forums for C questions than this mailing
list! Please use them!
Speaking as Apple's listmom for Cocoa-dev, and expanding on what Scott
Anguish said earlier..
I will also mention that this list is *for* the newbies, as much as it
is for advanced developers. If you see a question on this list that
you don't think belongs here, please default to ignoring the question,
rather than complaining about the question.
Let me also advise new developers that comp.lang.c.moderated is
probably a better place to get C questions answered quickly.
