I was just wondering how does one go about making a split button like at the top of the Address Book application? I am talking about the one that has two buttons for switching from the view with the lists and the address to the one with just the text view.

There's been word that Panther provides such a widget, but I haven't seen it. A very similar thing is of course used for tab panels now, but there isn't any way of separating the buttons from the rectangle that I'm aware of.

In Jaguar these buttons are stored as pictures. Nothing fancy, no system support. You could probably borrow one such set from one of Apple's applications.
