Hi,

I was wondering, since you mentioned MFC, if you aren't perhaps looking for some kind of cross platform toolkit? There are a couple, but since you're acquainted with C++ it seems, you might be interested to know that Trolltech's Qt frameworks (used by KDE on Linux) are available for both Windows and MacOSX as well as Linux.

I'm a newcomer to Cocoa and to development frameworks in general. I chose Cocoa because I've heard lots of great things about it, but I still don't understand why it is superior to other development frameworks like PowerPlant, MacApp, or even MFC and Java's own framework. Since I've not had any experience with any of these frameworks, I'm looking for a thorough and complete explanation that even a novice like me can understand. I want to know the major ways Cocoa is different from all the other frameworks on the market, and why those differences make Cocoa a better environment to develop in. By the same token, if there's any part of Cocoa that's inferior to some of these other frameworks, I like to know about them as well. I hope this knowledge will increase my understanding and appreciation of Cocoa. Thanks in advance for those who respond.
