Well, as I said. Trust the user. They may have a reason for wanting the toolbar to be small, and even if it's a rotation doohickey or whatever, it can always be displayed in a panel or a sheet, if it fits a toolbar.

But if you really feel like shooting yourself in the foot, don't let me be the one to stop you. Just don't override any methods starting with an underscore. Those are private, and subject to change at Apple's whim, which means the next MacOS update could see your toolbar resizing nonetheless if you override them and Apple change the names.
