Rotating view whilst printing

I have code that renders text at an angle by rotating the view before
output and rotating it back afterwards. This works fine for output to
the screen. But when outputting to a printer the rotation of the view
seems to be ignored. Is there an issue with this for printed output and
if so how can I output rotated text?
